Postpartum Anxiety Intensive Therapy in Phoenix, Arizona
Postpartum anxiety is a constant uneasiness. It’s checking the baby monitor for the third time in ten minutes. It’s running through every worst-case scenario before you’ve had your first cup of coffee. It’s exhaustion that sleep doesn’t fix, because your mind never fully stops.
Postpartum anxiety is more common than postpartum depression, affecting up to 20% of new mothers, and it is significantly undertreated, in part because the symptoms can look like “just being a concerned mother.” But there is a difference between normal new-parent worry and anxiety that is consuming your life.
At Held Mom & Baby IOP in Phoenix and Scottsdale, Arizona, we offer intensive outpatient treatment for postpartum anxiety, grounded in evidence, centered in community, and designed for women who are ready for real relief.
What Postpartum Anxiety Feels Like & Common Symptoms
Postpartum anxiety doesn’t always look like panic attacks or obvious fear. For many women, it shows up as a relentless mental loop, a sense that something terrible is about to happen, or an inability to relax even when things are objectively fine.
If any of this sounds familiar, this could be a clinical condition that responds well to treatment.

Frequently Asked Questions
What is the difference between postpartum anxiety and postpartum OCD?
Both involve intrusive, unwanted worry, but postpartum OCD specifically involves intrusive thoughts — often disturbing mental images or fears about harm — that feel ego-dystonic (meaning, they feel foreign and horrifying to you, not like something you want). Postpartum anxiety is broader and may not involve intrusive thoughts. Many women experience both. Our program treats both.
Can postpartum anxiety go away on its own?
For some women, symptoms improve over time as they adjust to parenthood and sleep improves. For others, anxiety worsens or becomes chronic without treatment. There is no reason to wait and hope it resolves as effective treatment is available.
